Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an annual salary to an hourly wage?
Divide the annual salary by the number of hours worked per year. The standard US assumption is 2,080 hours (40 hours × 52 weeks). So $52,000 ÷ 2,080 = $25/hour. If you work fewer hours or take unpaid leave, use your real numbers for a more accurate figure.
What is $50,000 a year per hour?
At the standard 2,080 work hours per year, $50,000 works out to about $24.04 per hour, roughly $961 per week or $4,167 per month before taxes. Remember these are gross figures — take-home pay will be lower after taxes and deductions.
Should I include paid time off in the calculation?
Paid vacation and holidays are already included in the 2,080-hour standard, because salaried employees are paid for those days without working them. If you compare against an hourly job with no paid time off, your effective hourly rate is a bit higher than the raw division suggests.
